If you’re doing article marketing then you’re definitely going to want to optimize your content for the search engines. This is how you do it:
First off, include your keyword, that’s pretty obvious. You probably know what keyword density is and you should forget it if you have. It is a useless metric. To keep it simple, put your keyword in the beginning, middle, and end. You want to use your keyword somewhere just in your article, but by putting it at the beginning and also at the end, this helps Google realize that you have a consistent theme in your article, so it doesn’t think that you start about your keyword but it’s more about something else at the end. You help show Google that your article is consistently about your keyword by using it consistently. That’s really important.
Next, don’t worry about the plurality and tense. For example, if your keyword is “jump” and it makes sense to use “jumps” or “jumping” then do that. Don’t make your article sloppy or grammatically incorrect just so you can get it precisely. It’s not that important.
Also, use related terms. It’s not about just throwing your keyword in there. Now, no matter what, you’re going to end up using related terms. You’re not going to talk about apples without talking about fruit, or food, or eating, or apple trees. Those kinds of related terms are going to come up no matter what. As an example, if your keyword is “article marketing tips”, article marketing, article marketing tricks, a lot of people call it bum marketing… these are all terms that you would want to use. This comes back to search engines versus people again.
Don’t stuff it with all these related terms and make your article kind of awkward just to appeal to the search engines because it’s not going to make THAT much of a difference and the whole point is also for it to be readable to people. Don’t forget that you’re writing for people while still optimizing your content for search engines.
Lastly, air on the side of writing longer rather than shorter content. Especially after the Panda update last year, it’s important that you write longer content because it’s related to higher quality content and it’s more likely to get syndicated off the directories you originally submit your articles to.
